HP to kW — Kya Hai Aur Kyun Zaroori Hai?

Bhai, Gulf ki har site pe — chahe Qatar University ho, Sidra Hospital ho ya Al Daayen Hospital — motor ka nameplate mostly HP (Horsepower) mein hota hai. Lekin jab cable sizing karo, MCB select karo, ya generator size karo — toh kW (Kilowatt) chahiye. Main Arif hoon, 12+ saal ka Gulf experience hai. Maine dekha hai naaye electricians HP dekh ke directly cable laga dete hain — bina kW calculate kiye. Result? Wrong cable size, generator overload, aur site supervisor ki daant.

Kaunsa HP Type Use Karein?

Gulf site pe jab nameplate mein sirf “HP” likha ho — hamesha Mechanical HP (×0.7457) assume karo. Yahi industry standard hai Qatar, UAE, Saudi mein. Agar “HP(E)” likha ho toh Electrical HP. European machinery mein “PS” ya “CV” likha ho toh Metric HP.

Generator Sizing mein HP kaise use karein

Gulf site pe backup generator size karte waqt — sab motors ki HP values ka kW nikaalo, phir total kW ko PF se divide karo kVA milega. Starting surge ke liye 25% extra add karo. Example: 50 HP = 37.28 kW ÷ 0.8 = 46.6 kVA × 1.25 = 58.25 kVA → 60 kVA generator select karo.

⚠️ Motor efficiency (η) ko ignore mat karo! Real current: I = (kW × 1000) / (√3 × V × PF × η). Nameplate FLA hamesha override karta hai calculated value — cable sizing mein hamesha nameplate FLA use karo.
