NO NC Contact Kya Hota Hai? Simple Example Se Samjho

Aaj ka Topic hai Contactor NO NC Contact kya hota hai aur kaise kaam karta hai
Bhai, agar tune kabhi contactor ka wiring diagram dekha hai toh usme NO aur NC likha zaroor dekha hoga. Aur agar tune kabhi kisi senior se poocha “yeh kya hota hai” — toh 80% chance hai usne bola hoga “NO matlab Normally Open, NC matlab Normally Closed” aur bas chhod diya. Seedha definition, koi practical samajh nahi.

Me Arif hoon — 12 saal se Gulf ki sites pe kaam kar raha hoon. Qatar University ka chiller plant ho, Sidra Hospital ka critical panel ho, ya Al Daayen Hospital ka DB room — har jagah contactors hain aur har jagah NO NC ka game hai. Aaj me tujhe woh samjhaunga jo site pe kaam karte karte samajh aata hai — diagrams se nahi, haath se wire karke.

Is post ke baad agar koi tujhse interview me poochhe “NO NC explain karo” — tu confident hokar uthega aur whiteboard pe draw karke dikhayega. Guarantee.

NO aur NC Kya Hota Hai — Ek Baar Seedha Samjho

Contactor ek electrically operated switch hai — coil ko voltage do, wo pull-in karta hai aur contacts change ho jaate hain. Isi change hone wali baat ko samajhna hai.

Contact Type 01
NO
Normally Open

Jab contactor OFF hai tab yeh contact OPEN (khula) rehta hai — matlab current flow nahi hoti. Contactor energize hone pe yeh CLOSE ho jaata hai.

Normal state → OPEN (circuit break)
Energized state → CLOSED (current flows)
Contact Type 02
NC
Normally Closed

Jab contactor OFF hai tab yeh contact CLOSED (banda) rehta hai — matlab current flow hoti rehti hai. Contactor energize hone pe yeh OPEN ho jaata hai.

Normal state → CLOSED (current flows)
Energized state → OPEN (circuit break)

Contactor Me Kitne Contacts Hote Hain

Ek standard 3-phase contactor me 2 type ke contacts hote hain — main contacts aur auxiliary contacts. Dono ka kaam alag hai, dono ka size alag hai.

Main Contacts + Auxiliary Contacts — Dono Ka Role

Main contacts (L1-T1, L2-T2, L3-T3) heavy current carry karte hain — motor ki power supply ke liye. Auxiliary contacts (13-14 NO, 21-22 NC) control circuit me use hote hain — signaling, interlocking, self-holding ke liye. Auxiliary contacts chhote hote hain, sirf 10A tak.

Contact Type Terminal No. Kaam Current Rating
Main Contact (×3) NO only L1-T1, L2-T2, L3-T3 Motor ko 3-phase power deta hai Motor FLC ke hisaab se
Aux Contact NO NO 13 – 14 Self-holding, indicator lamp, PLC input Max 10A
Aux Contact NC NC 21 – 22 Interlock, fault signal, Star-Delta interlocking Max 10A

NO Contact Kahan Use Hota Hai — Real Examples

Theory se zyada important hai practical use. Me tujhe wohi examples de raha hoon jo actual site pe hote hain — Gulf ke projects me maine khud yeh wiring kari hai.

Use 1 — Self-Holding Circuit (Sabse Important)

DOL starter me Start button ke parallel me contactor ka NO auxiliary contact lagaate hain. Jab Start button dabate hain — contactor energize hota hai, NO contact close ho jaata hai, aur ab Start button chhod dene ke baad bhi circuit closed rehta hai. Yahi self-holding ya latching circuit hai. Agar yeh NO contact na ho — Start button chhodo toh motor band. Samjha? Is concept ko depth me DOL Starter Wiring guide me dekh.

Use 2 — Indicator Lamp (Run Indicator)

Panel pe green “RUN” lamp lagani ho toh contactor ke NO contact ke through lagaate hain. Jab motor chal rahi hai (contactor ON) — NO contact close hai — lamp jali. Motor band (contactor OFF) — NO open — lamp bujhi. Simple aur effective.

Use 3 — PLC Input Signal

Gulf ki modern sites pe PLC hota hai jo monitor karta hai ki motor chal rahi hai ya nahi. Contactor ka NO auxiliary contact PLC ke digital input se connect hota hai. Motor chale — NO close — PLC ko HIGH signal mile — status update ho. Sidra Hospital ke automation projects me yahi setup tha.

NC Contact Kahan Use Hota Hai — Real Examples

Use 1 — Star-Delta Interlock (Bahut Zaroori)

Star Delta starter me Star contactor (KS) aur Delta contactor (KD) kabhi ek saath ON nahi hone chahiye — warna direct short circuit. Isiliye KS ka NC contact KD ki coil circuit me lagaate hain — aur KD ka NC contact KS ki coil me. Jab KS ON hai toh uska NC contact open ho jaata hai — KD ON ho hi nahi sakta. Yahi electrical interlock hai aur yeh ek NC contact ki wajah se hota hai. Qatar University ke chiller projects me maine personally yeh interlock troubleshoot kiya hai.

Use 2 — Stop Button

Stop button hamesha NC type use hota hai — series me control circuit me lagta hai. Jab daba do — NC open ho jaata hai — coil de-energize — motor band. Aur sabse important baat — agar wire break ho jaye ya button ka connection loose ho jaye toh bhi circuit break hoga aur motor safe stop hogi. Yahi fail-safe design hai — NC stop button ki wajah se. NO stop button laga do — wire toot jaaye toh motor band nahi hogi — dangerous.

Contact Behavior
Contactor OFF vs ON — Contact Position Kaise Badalti Hai

Coil de-energized (OFF): NO = Open, NC = Closed. Coil energized (ON): NO = Closed, NC = Open. Dono contacts ek saath opposite state me jaate hain — yahi contactor ka switching action hai. Isi wajah se ek contactor me interlock bhi ho sakta hai aur self-hold bhi.

Use 3 — Fault Indicator / Alarm

Kuch panels me ek alarm circuit hota hai jo tab bajta hai jab motor unexpectedly band ho jaye. Contactor ka NC contact use karte hain — motor chal rahi hai toh NC open hai, alarm nahi bajta. Motor trip ho gayi — contactor de-energize — NC close ho gaya — alarm circuit complete — buzzer baj gaya. Gulf ki critical facilities me yeh setup common hai.

NO NC — Ek Saath Use Karo: Real Circuit

Ek simple DOL starter circuit me dono NO aur NC contacts ek saath kaise use hote hain — yeh dekh. Yeh woh circuit hai jo me Gulf ke junior electricians ko site pe samjhata hoon:

DOL Control Circuit — NO NC Dono Ka Use
L →
Control supply line (230V from transformer)
NC →
Stop Button (NC) — series me. Normal me closed, dabaane pe open → motor band. Fail-safe.
NO →
Start Button (NO) — series me. Normal me open, dabaane pe close → contactor coil energize hoti hai.
NO ∥
Aux Contact NO (13-14) — Start button ke parallel. Contactor ON hote hi yeh close ho jaata hai → self-holding → Start button chhod sakte hain.
NC →
OLR Contact (95-96 NC) — series me. Normal me closed. Overload hone pe open → circuit break → motor safe stop.
COIL
Contactor Coil (A1-A2) → Neutral. Jab tak circuit complete — coil energized — motor chalti rehti hai.
SUMMARY
Is circuit me 2 NC contacts (Stop + OLR) aur 2 NO contacts (Start + Aux Self-Hold) hain. NC contacts safety ke liye hain — fail-safe. NO contacts action ke liye hain — start karo aur hold karo.

Terminal Numbers — Kaise Identify Karein

Har contactor pe terminal numbers print hote hain — inhe padhna aana chahiye. IEC standard ke hisaab se numbering fixed hai — Schneider ho, Siemens ho, ABB ho ya LS Electric — same logic follow karta hai:

Terminal Contact Type IEC Rule Common Use
13 – 14 NO Even number = NO Self-holding, Run lamp, PLC
21 – 22 NC Odd number start = NC Interlock, Alarm, Fault signal
33 – 34 NO Extra aux block add karo Second indicator ya interlock
41 – 42 NC Extra aux block add karo Second interlock circuit
A1 – A2 Coil terminals — control voltage yahan aata hai 230V / 110V / 24V coil
Pro Tip — Terminal Trick

IEC standard me last digit se contact type pata chalta hai: last digit 3-4 = NO, last digit 1-2 = NC. Toh 13-14 = NO ✓, 21-22 = NC ✓, 33-34 = NO ✓. Yeh trick yaad kar lo — kisi bhi contactor pe kaam aayegi. Multimeter se verify karna ho toh coil de-energized rakho aur continuity check karo — NO me continuity nahi aani chahiye, NC me aani chahiye.

Common Galtiyan — Site Pe Yeh Aksar Hoti Hain

Galti Kya Hota Hai Sahi Kya Hai
Self-hold me NC use kar diya Start button dabate hi NC open — motor start hi nahi hogi ya turant band Self-hold me hamesha NO (13-14) use karo
Stop button NO laga diya Wire break hone pe motor band nahi hogi — dangerous. Stop dabane pe bhi normal me open rehta hai Stop button hamesha NC — fail-safe design
Interlock me NO use kiya Star Delta me KS aur KD dono ek saath ON — short circuit Interlock me hamesha NC contact use karo
Main contact pe control circuit laga diya Main contact heavy current ke liye hai — control circuit me laga diya toh aux contact jaldi kharab hoga ya circuit proper kaam nahi karega Control circuit me sirf aux contacts (13-14, 21-22)

Gulf Interview Me NO NC Pe Kya Poochha Jaata Hai

Yeh topic Gulf ke almost har electrical interview me aata hai — especially supervisor aur senior electrician positions ke liye. Me tujhe wohi sawaal de raha hoon jo mujhse aur mere juniors se pooche gaye hain:

Gulf Interview — Taiyaar Raho
Q. 01
Stop button NO hona chahiye ya NC — kyun?
NC — fail-safe design ke liye. Wire break ya loose connection hone pe bhi circuit open hoga aur motor safe stop hogi. NO laga do toh wire toot jaaye toh motor nahi rukegi.
Q. 02
Self-holding circuit me kaunsa aux contact use hota hai?
NO contact (13-14) — Start button ke parallel me. Contactor ON hone pe close ho jaata hai aur circuit hold karta hai. NC use karo toh motor start hote hi circuit break — motor band.
Q. 03
Star Delta interlock me kaunsa contact use hote hain?
NC contacts — KS ka NC, KD ki coil circuit me. KD ka NC, KS ki coil me. Jab ek ON ho toh doosra ON nahi ho sakta. Short circuit prevention.
Q. 04
Terminal 13-14 kya hai — NO ya NC?
NO contact. IEC rule — last digit 3-4 = NO. Verify karne ke liye multimeter continuity check karo coil de-energized state me — continuity nahi aani chahiye NO me.

FAQ

Aksar Puchhe Jaane Wale Sawaal

Contactor me main contacts hamesha NO type hote hain — motor ko power dete hain. Auxiliary NO contact (13-14) control circuit ke liye hota hai — chhota, max 10A. Dono NO hain lekin size aur purpose bilkul alag hain. Main contact pe control circuit mat lagao.
Standard contactor me 1 NO + 1 NC built-in hota hai. Upar se auxiliary contact blocks add kar sakte hain — side mount ya front mount. Maximum 4 additional blocks tak add ho sakte hain manufacturer ke hisaab se. Schneider LC1D series me side-mount LA1D blocks add hote hain.
Haan — same concept. Relay me bhi coil hoti hai aur contacts hote hain (NO aur NC). Fark sirf current rating ka hai — relay chhote current ke liye (control circuits, PLC I/O), contactor badi current ke liye (motor loads). Logic bilkul same — NO energize pe close, NC energize pe open.
Contactor de-energized (coil OFF) rakho. Multimeter continuity mode me karo. Aux contact terminals pe probe lagao: continuity aaye = NC contact. Continuity na aaye = NO contact. Simple — 30 second me identify ho jaata hai. Hamesha power off karke check karo.
Concept same hai lekin operation alag. Push button manual hai — haath se dabate ho tab contact change hota hai, chhodo toh wapas. Contactor electric hai — coil ko voltage do tab contact change hota hai, voltage hato toh wapas. Push button momentary action karta hai, contactor maintained action (jab tak coil energized).
OLR ka 95-96 NC contact control circuit me series me lagta hai — coil circuit me. Normal me closed rehta hai. Overload hone pe OLR trip karta hai — 95-96 open ho jaata hai — coil de-energize — contactor drop — motor stop. OLR ka 97-98 NO contact hota hai — alarm ya fault indicator ke liye use hota hai.

NO aur NC ka concept ek baar seedha samajh lo — phir koi bhi wiring diagram dekh ke khud logic build kar sakte ho. Star Delta interlock ho, DOL self-hold ho, ya PLC wiring ho — sab jagah yahi 2 contacts kaam karte hain. Gulf ke interviews me yeh topic har baar aata hai — aur jo electrician confidently explain kar sakta hai, woh baaki se clearly alag dikhta hai.
