Me 12 saal se Gulf aur India ki sites pe kaam kar raha hoon — Qatar University, Sidra Hospital, Hamad Hospital — aur har jagah yahi dekha hai ki jo electrician DOL ka control circuit haath se draw kar ke explain kar de, usse interviewer 10 minute me pass kar deta hai.
DOL matlab Direct On Line — motor ko seedha full voltage de do, bina kisi starting method ke. Simple hai, cost-effective hai, lekin iska control circuit samajhna thoda attention maangta hai. Gulf ki sites pe chhoti motors — 5 kW tak, kabhi kabhi 7.5 kW tak — DOL pe hi chalaate hain. Badi motors ke liye Star Delta starter ya VFD use hota hai. Lekin DOL ka concept samjhe bina Star Delta nahi samjhega — isiliye yahan se shuru karo.

DOL Control Circuit — Step by Step Wiring
Yahi asli kaam hai. Control circuit samajhna power circuit se zyada important hai — kyunki power circuit seedha hota hai (3 phase motor ke 3 terminals pe), lekin control circuit me logic hota hai. Isko dhyan se samjho.
DOL Starter — Complete Control Circuit
Start button (NO) → Stop button (NC) → OLR contact (NC) → Contactor coil. Auxiliary contact start button ke parallel me lagata hai — yahi self-holding circuit hai jisse motor start button chhod ne ke baad bhi chalti rehti hai. Ye diagram haath se draw karna seekho — Gulf interview me kaam aayega.

Power Circuit (Main Circuit)
MCCB ke 3 output se contactor ke 3 input tak (L1→T1, L2→T2, L3→T3). Contactor output (T4, T5, T6) se OLR input tak. OLR output se motor terminal box (U1, V1, W1) tak. Power circuit complete.

Control Supply
MCCB ke Phase (L1) se Control Transformer primary tak wire karo. Secondary se L (Line) aur N (Neutral) nikaalo. L aur N ko control circuit me lao — yahan se sab connections honge.

Stop Button (NC) — Series Me
L (Line) → Stop button ke NC terminal me → Stop button ke doosre terminal se aage wire nikalo. NC matlab normally closed — current flow hota rehta hai jab tak dabaao nahi. Dabaane pe circuit break hoga.

Start Button (NO) — Series Me
Stop button ke output → Start button ke NO terminal me → Start button ke doosre terminal se aage. Start button dabaane pe circuit close hoga aur contactor coil energize hogi. Ab hath chhod do — circuit break ho jaayega agar auxiliary contact na lage.

Auxiliary Contact — Parallel Me (Self-Holding)
Contactor ka auxiliary NO contact — Start button ke dono terminals ke parallel me wire karo. Jab contactor pull-in kare to yeh contact close ho jaata hai aur Start button chhod ne ke baad bhi circuit closed rehta hai. Yahi DOL ka magic hai.

OLR Contact (NC) — Series Me
Start button ke output → OLR ka NC contact (95-96 terminal) → aage contactor coil tak. Overload hone pe OLR ka NC contact open hoga, circuit break hoga, motor stop ho jayegi. Fail-safe design.

Contactor Coil — End Point
OLR contact output → Contactor coil (A1 terminal) → Coil ka doosra end (A2) → Neutral (N). Circuit complete. Ab Start dabaao — motor chalega! Stop dabaao — motor rukegi. OLR trip ho — automatic stop.
Interview Tip: Ye sequence yaad karo — L → Stop(NC) → Start(NO) parallel Aux(NO) → OLR(NC) → Coil A1 → Coil A2 → N. Haath se draw karke practice karo. Qatar University ke ek project me maine ek junior ko 20 minute me ye sikhaya tha — agle din uska interview pass hua.
Overload Relay Setting — Galati Mat Karna
Overload relay setting galat hone se ya toh motor overload pe trip nahi hogi (motor jalegi) ya bina wajah trip hoti rehegi. Dono situations site pe problem create karti hain. Setting simple hai — motor ka Full Load Current (FLC) pata karo aur relay usi pe set karo.
OLR Setting Rule: OLR ko hamesha motor ke nameplate FLC pe set karo — calculated value pe nahi. Gulf ki site pe ambient temperature 45°C+ hoti hai toh thermal OLR thodi conservative setting pe rakho (FLC ka 90–95%). Electronic OLR available ho toh wo better hai hot climate me. Starting Current Ka Issue — DOL vs Star Delta vs VFD
DOL ka sabse bada drawback yahi hai — starting pe motor full voltage seedha milti hai toh starting current bahut zyada ho jaata hai. Sidra Hospital ke ek project me maine dekha tha ki ek 5.5 kW pump DOL pe start hoti thi aur har baar panel room ki lights thodi flicker karti thin. Ye starting current ka supply line pe effect tha.

DOL: 6–7× FLC. Star Delta: 2–2.5× FLC. VFD: 1.0–1.5× FLC. Chhoti motors ke liye DOL chalta hai, lekin 7.5 kW se badi motors me Star Delta ya VFD prefer karo — especially Gulf ki sites pe jahan supply system pe load zyada hota hai.

DOL Starter Troubleshooting — Site Pe Kaam Aayega
Troubleshooting me systematic approach chahiye. Site pe panic mat karo — ek ek step check karo. Me har baar yehi sequence follow karta hoon:

Safety — Kabhi Ignore Mat Karna
Critical Safety Warning: DOL starter 415V 3-phase pe kaam karta hai — yeh deadly hai. Wiring se pehle LOTO procedure mandatory hai — main supply lock out karo, tag out karo, multimeter se verify karo ki supply zero hai. Sirf insulated VDE rated tools use karo. Gulf sites pe OSHA aur IEC standards follow hote hain — safety violation pe visa cancel ho sakta hai. Complete PPE guide yahan padho.
Sirf ek main contactor (KM) lagta hai — yahi DOL ka simplest feature hai. Star Delta me 3 contactors lagte hain. Contactor ke saath ek overload relay, ek auxiliary contact block, aur push buttons hote hain.
Default me OLR manual reset pe hota hai — trip hone ke baad button dabaana padta hai. Gulf ki critical sites pe manual reset hi prefer karte hain taaki reason investigate kiye bina motor restart na ho. Auto reset dangerous hai — motor unattended restart ho sakti hai.
5 kW, 415V, 3-phase motor ka FLC ≈ 9.7 A hota hai. AC3 duty me contactor minimum 12A rating ka chahiye — practically 16A (Schneider LC1D09 ya similar) use karte hain. FLC calculate karne ke liye kW to Amp Calculator use karo.
Gulf ki professional sites pe 110V ya 230V control voltage prefer karte hain — control transformer laga ke. 415V control circuit technically kaam karta hai lekin dangerous hai. IEC 60204-1 bhi control transformer recommend karta hai — best practice hai.
Seedha reset mat karo — pehle reason dhundo. Motor current check karo, mechanical load check karo (jammed ya not). 2–3 minute cool down karo (thermal OLR ke liye). Phir OLR reset button dabaao. Agar bar bar trip ho raha hai toh OLR setting check karo ya motor winding test karo. Blindly reset karna motor jala sakta hai.
Gulf ki commercial aur industrial sites pe E-stop mandatory hai — IEC 60204-1 aur local NFPA standards ke hisaab se. E-stop NC contact control circuit me Stop button ke series me lagta hai. Red mushroom head button use hota hai — yeh normal stop se visually alag hona chahiye.
